It's been awhile since my last post, and I was truly
trying to stay away as long as I possibly could.
Not because I didn't want to be in touch
with all of you, but because I have
been trying to focus on getting the shop
moved, making it (sanely) through
Sock Summit, and working through
the large piles that have seemed to form (rather quickly)
around my desk. Abby says,
"You're finally back from the dead, huh?"
Much has happened over the past 2 weeks.
Sock Summit was a blast - having that many
Indie dyers under one roof is really
enough to overwhelm even the simplest of souls.
And let me tell you, I was overwhelmed!
But in a very good way! We have several
new dyers from Sock Summit that will be joining our shop
over the next couple of months
(and which I'm super excited about!),
but more about this in our upcoming newsletter.
There's so much fun news to share!
At Sock Summit, I was finally able to meet
Sivia Harding,
which was wonderful, as we've been communicating
on email for quite some time now! She is one of
the absolute sweetest and most talented people I've ever
met. And no, I'm not really THAT tall -
Sivia is really THAT small. :)
Abby and I were able to spend lots of time with
friends (such as
Kristine from Curious Creek),
Babs and Jen from
Miss Babs, Jean, Pam, Gail,
Iris, and many more! It was so much fun to meet
quite a few of the dyers we've been working with
through email and phone only for the last three years.
We've also been moving into our new Woolgirl
space over the last two weeks - and it's coming
along really well! It's amazing to have the shop
out of the house -
so much more functional and WOW!
We actually have space in our house once again.
(Above is just a sneak peek of what it looked like
when we started....)
We will not be open to the public until at least
the end of September (maybe later); however, in a
couple of weeks we will be open by appointment -
which means that if you call ahead of time,
you're free to come
by and check out the goodies in person. :)
We're still planning on focusing mainly on our online
shop, so we won't be set up like your standard yarn
shop exactly - but to us it's much more fun this way!
We've gotten lots of new things in stock since the
last part of July, including one of our new yarn lines
called
Artsygal. Isn't her yarn just scrumptious?
Next Friday, August 28th, we will have our
first shop update of August! :) We'll be posting
lots of new sock and lace yarn from Malabrigo,
Madelinetosh, Dream in Color, Miss Babs,
and Farmhouse, along with new items from
Lantern Moon and a few other surprises we
have up our sleeves! :) Over the course of the
next week, we'll give you some hints as to the
colors we'll be posting, and the sales we'll be
offering (and yes, there will be sales...).
Oh, and did I mention that I have cupcakes
on my mind? Can't seem to get them off my mind
these days!
Cupcake, cupcake, anyone?
The long awaited cupcake kits will be ready
soon and will be posted in the shop
in the next week or so....
We will have a limited number of
cupcake kits available in both fingering and sport weight,
and we will also have the yarn for sale
(without the kit) in the
Dashing Dachs fingering
and sport weight sections of the website.
So...keep your eyes posted for the cupcake kits
to arrive! In addition, our upcoming newsletter
will include details of 3 additional cupcake kits
that we plan to offer over the course of
the next year - each with a unique skein of yarn
from a dyer in our shop and a different designed
cupcake bag - and of course, cupcake goodies!
There are so many cupcake goodies available -
we needed 4 kits to include them all!
I'm off to unpack more yarn and to answer more email
and to try and work my way through some paperwork
this weekend.
Hope you each have an awesome weekend!
(It's good to be back...:))
