Sunny Days Ahead

As you may have read in my previous blog post,
Woolgirl will be moving into a new location -
more of a bricks and mortar location in Gladstone, Oregon.

This will happen over the next month or two, and
we'll provide more details as we have them.

We'll still be mainly focused on being an "online" shop,
with maybe an afternoon/evening (or two) with open
time to come in an shop - which is something we haven't
been able to offer in the past. All of this is good news,
as we'll start carrying things that we weren't able to stock
in the past (due to being an only online shop) - such as
add-turbo needles, select yarns, and books (to name a few!)



This includes the new book by Chrissy Gardiner
of Gardiner Yarn Works, entitled "Toe-Up!", which we will
have available in the shop for purchase beginning this Sunday.



This book not only has a collection of wonderful & unique
toe-up sock patterns to choose from, but it also contains
some other wonderful features...
a host of helpful worksheets and tutorials designed to help
you custom fit your toe-up socks based on your favorite
heel/toe combinations. Complete worksheets are included with
the book; however, you'll also have the option of downloading
blank worksheets to use with the book. How cool is that?

We also just received in the Miss Babs "Yearning"
lace weight yarn - a fantastic blend of
Merino Wool and Tussah Silk in some of the most
amazing colorways...

Movin on up...

Well, we're movin on up!

To the Eastside!



To a Dee-luxe apartment, in the sky!

Most of you remember the theme song to
the Jefferson's, right? We thought it only
fitting as here at Woolgirl we're movin' on up too!

Well, not quite just like the Jefferson's (he he!)
but we are movin' on out into a new location
very soon - within the next month. We've been
contemplating this decision for the last year (or so)
and we've finally made the decision to move out
of our home and into a real Woolgirl space,
dedicated only to all things Woolgirl,
where we might even open the shop up to
customers and have classes and events and
fun things like that! As you can tell, I'm pretty jazzed
up about all of this and can't wait to share more
details with all of you! I will be doing that over
the course of the next few weeks, as we
prepare for the move amidst getting 3 sock kits
shipped out, amidst 4 days of sock summit,
amidst having some of my favorite dyers stay
with us during sock summit. Amidst all of that.
Oh, and we may have a mini-sale to try and
clear out a few things before the move - did
I mention that?

No problem, I can do it. Eeeek!

I'd better get off the internet and start working
then, shouldn't I?



Oh, and did I mention that we're hiring a new person?
(and no, it will not be Harry Bentley from The Jefferson's!)

We're keeping our eyes and ears open for that
"perfect special someone" who would like to be a
part of the Woolgirl team - we will be advertising for
this position in the next month or so -
but if you're in the Portland/Oregon City area,
are a knitter, feel especially creative, and would
find a job working with yarn day in and day out
completely intoxicating (like I do!), then we'd

Katherine...Kate for short

My mother's name is Katherine...
or, as we call her, Kate for short.

Kate - coming from the Celtic/Gaelic origin
and meaning "pure".



Kate - a fictional character and the female
romantic lead in the comedy "The Taming of the Shrew"
by William Shakespeare.



Kate - one of the all time popular names and has always
been one of the first choice names for girls.

A variety of meanings, but only one really applies...

Katherine is my mother's name...
Kate is what we call her for short.

Salt Water Taffy

As the sun sets upon the boardwalk
The salty sea kisses the horizon
and the moon catches it's shadow painted in gilded chalk

in a delicious scent of sand and shore,

In harmony the seagulls sing as they partake
of this aquatic symphony.



In the boardwalk the people in denim chinos,
Buy cotton candies and salt water taffy.
The sounds of coins clicking in the casinos
like a downpour of hail.



Lovers, walking hand in hand,
Along the shoreline
make footprints in the sand...
Whilst taking in the air sublime.

A glorious new shipment of Three Irish Girls has
arrived here at Woolgirl, along with a huge
shipment of salt water taffy (hmmm...wonder what that
might be for?????), and they seemed to pair so
nicely together for our photo shoot today.
We received in lots of new colors in both
Adorn fingering and Kells Sport Merino,
which is now 585 yards per skein of "fantabulous"
sport weight, by the way - never worry about running
out of yarn for your sport weight socks again!

We'll be posting the new colors this Friday, July 17th
in the shop, so hope you'll stop by!

We also have some winners to announce from our
4th of July Sale, and each winner has been contacted
separately via email. All photos of winning prizes
will be posted here on the blog after we have
shipped the prizes out and each winner has
received their packages (as not to spoil the surprise).

Got the beach on my mind

I've got the beach on my mind, can you tell?



These are two new colorways from two of my
favorite dyers - Joni from Union Center &
Babs from Miss Babs. The first is called
"Shells in the Sand", and will be available in
both fingering weight and sport weight sock
this Friday, July 10th at Woolgirl.

The second (Miss Babs) is called "Wishful" and
is available in her Yummy fingering weight sock.



Be sure to also check out some of the new lines
we are adding this Friday, including the
wonderfully delicious self-striping sock yarn
from Studio Avenue Six. There's only one
skein of each colorway, as each colorway is
unique - never to be repeated. So, if you like
a colorway, make sure you grab it fast, as it will
be the only one of it's kind ever!



We'll also be adding the new Lobster Sox
merino sock yarn from Lobster Pot Yarns,
available in all of their amazing colorways -
including "New Seagrass" (as shown above),

Happy 4th of July!

We're off beginning tomorrow
 (July 2nd) thru Sunday (July 5th) to spend time
with family and friends over the 4th of July holiday,
so all orders placed from Thursday - Sunday will be
filled and shipped out Monday/Tuesday (July 6th & 7th).

A reminder that we're still running our 4th of July SALE
in the shop this week and through the 5th of July AND,
on July 5th and 6th we have some extra surprise specials that
