In my opinion, the holiday just wouldn't
be complete without fudge. I always make the
best fudge recipe with marshmallow creme,
bakers chocolate, sugar, vanilla...you know the one.
The melt-in-your-mouth sort of fudge that you
only make once a year. The sort of fudge recipe
that is a "never fail" recipe. This fudge is the
true reason as to why I can never shed a
pound (nor should I even try) over the holidays!
We've had family here for the past few days,
and it looks like they may be here for a few
more days - as the weather has been treacherous here
in the NW. We don't typically get much snow
here in Portland ~ rain...we can deal with rain,
but snow? It's another story.
Chains are required everywhere in
the Portland Metro area, and very few people
are on the roadways today.
You can see why...
Portland just doesn't get much snow! And to top
it off, we have hills galore, so it's a bad combo
when snow makes it's way into the NW.
I have been a bit behind on email and
our shop update will not be happening today,
as it was previously planned. All of the yarn
that was scheduled to arrive this week did not
arrive, as UPS is delayed due to the holidays and
the weather, so we're postponing the shop update
until next Sunday - December 28th.
In that shop update we will have:
Madtosh Worsted
Dashing Dachs
Miss Babs
Namaste Buddy Cases
Yarn Daze
We have gotten a lot of emails about whether
or not we'll have a sale after Christmas,
and yes, we will be having a sale in the week or
so after Christmas - I will provide more
details about this in the next week.
A few words about shipping for the holidays too...Any orders placed after Saturday (December 20th)
can not be guaranteed by the post office or us
to arrive before Christmas. So, if you need a package
to arrive before Christmas and want to pay the extra
cost for shipping express, please let us know when
placing your order.
We will be taking off Wednesday - Saturday of
this week (December 24-27) - you will still
be able to place orders, we just won't be sending
out any orders during this time period, and all orders
placed during this time period will be shipped
the following Monday, December 29th.
So, on to our Christmas Holiday Contest!
Thank you to everyone who answered last week's
trivia contest - and the answer was most
certainly "Happy Christmas to all!" Most of you,
if not all, got this one correct!
The winner is Donna! Congrats Donna!
I will be sending you an email today regarding
your winning loot! :)
So, can you guess what this week's contest
is about?
Let me give you another clue:
That's right, it's the Christmas Tree!
I just LOVE decorating the tree each
year - each year I pick something new to
decorate with - last year it was poinsettias,
this year it just happens to be all sorts of
decorations that we've gotten throughout
the years - we even have some from when
my husband and I were toddlers!
It was really fun to decorate with
all of these this year, as it brought back so
many memories of old.
Christmas trees come in all types, don't they?
All shapes, all sizes, hundreds of
types of decorations and colors to use ~
so many different themes.
In fact, the new craze is having an
upside down Christmas tree (not
quite sure what the point of this is,
but each to his own!)
I suppose this just leaves more room
for gifts under the tree, right?
So...in thinking about the Christmas tree,
can you guess which US state has the tallest
living Christmas tree?
I'll give you a tiny hint...
It's either Maine, Oregon, California or Montana.
Now can you guess?
Out of everyone who answers correctly, we'll
choose a winner randomly and that person
will receive a Sheila D knitting accessory
pouch, with a skein of yarn to match (and
some Christmas goodies thrown in!) Something
relating to a Christmas tree, perhaps?
A winner will be announced next weekend
here on the blog...
Stay safe today!
It just started freezing rain here - yuck!
What's it like in your neck of the woods?
