I Fall to Pieces

Fire_island_footprints_up_close

I fall to pieces...
Each time someone speaks your name.
I fall to pieces...
Time only adds to the flame.

~Patsy Cline
(and color shown above:
Fire Island from The Unique Sheep)

Did you see what we added to the shop late last night? I literally "fell to pieces" when I saw all of the gorgeous colorways from Family Pendragon, Three Irish Girls, and The Unique Sheep. The new Fire Island colorway is one of my new "must haves"! We all have those, don't we? Colorways that don't come with an option...they just must be ours. Here's some that are my new "must haves"...

And, of course, I had to add some of the new Family Pendragon sport weight to my personal collection...

Guns N Roses definitely calls my name...

Let's just say, every color from Three Irish Girls is a force to be reckoned with! WOW!

Oh, and did you see the new kits we've added? The absolutely stunning Autumn Gold Lace Shawl Kit from The Unique Sheep, designed by Janine Le Cras.

We currently have this kit available in 2 colors, but will be adding more soon! AND, the patterns will be available for purchase on their own soon too.

The gorgeous Quatrefoil top down raglan-based shrug kit from the Unique Sheep, designed by
Janine Le Cras.

We currently have the kit available in the Maya colorway, but will have more colors available soon.

We've also added a few of the new Fair Isle Footlet kits from Curious Creek Fibers. I LOVE these little footlets, and what a great way to experiment with Fair Isle techniques!

News_newyarn_big2

The Fair Isle Footlet is the sock on the left. Aren't these way too cute for words even?

I hope you'll stop by to check out some of the new yarns and items in the shop today!

In addition, we have a winner for the "Under the Weather" contest that we had last week. Thank you to everyone for your well-wishes. I'm feeling much better after a few days of rest!

The yarn shown in the photos was, you guessed it, Zen Yarn Garden! The yarn will be here sometime in the next 2 weeks, and I just can't wait. Roxanne has really outdone herself with the colorways! The winner of the contest is Kellie - congrats Kellie! I have contacted you about your color preference and winning loot this week, so watch your email for that!

The Woolgirl Newsletter will be coming your way this week via email also, so watch your inboxes in the next few days. We may have a fun contest again this week too...you never know. :)

Hope you each have a Happy Monday and have fun "falling to pieces". :)

An Under the Weather Contest

Under_the_weather

I have been a bit under the weather the last few days, thus the lack of blog activity. I think my body just finally said "enough!" and is forcing me to slow it down for a few days. Maybe I can take advantage and get a little personal knitting done? :) The problem is that I'm in one of those yucky feeling modes - you know, the type of mode where you only feel good enough to lay on your butt and either sleep or watch TV? So, personal knitting or not, my body is calling for some much needed relaxation, so I'm giving in and am taking the next day (or two) to relax.

And while I'm at it, why not have an "under the weather" contest too? Easter is over and I quite miss our fun weekly contests, don't you? So, I decided that today deserves a contest!

We have some fun yarns arriving in the next couple of weeks...and here's one of them! Can you guess which yarn this is? I'll provide 3 photo clues...

King Orchid Spider...

Pink Kitty...

Oregon Coast...

NOW do you know what it is? I'll give you one more clue...it starts with the letter Z! AND we do carry this yarn in the shop (not these colorways, but the yarn). Guess correctly and you could win yourself a free skein of this yarn when it arrives (in your colorway choice), along with some lovely handmade soap from my home town, and a cute little knitting accessories pouch. This is enough to bring anyone out from "under the weather", isn't it?

Happy Thursday!

I've Been Tagged....

Barry_manilow2

The fantastically talented knitter and ultra photographer extraordinare Neuroknitter tagged me for the  7-fact declaration and, as usual, I am behind on posting...but here goes (and don't laugh)!

The rules are:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

  1. I am an extremely shy person. You might not have guessed it, but it's true.
  2. I am a blog lurker...not a blog commenter. I read lots of blogs, but don't comment very often.
  3. I love reality television. Yes, it's true, I am a reality TV fanatic. I'm glad I finally got that off my chest!
  4. I have secretly always wanted to be a wedding planner.
  5. OK...prepare yourself for this one...I am a HUGE Barry Manilow AND Barbara Streisand fan. I know, it's sad, but I can't break this. I've been hooked on them both for years! (and let's face it, Barry Manilow was once cuter than he is now - see photo above)
  6. I feed my dog lots of people snacks. I know, I'm bad.
  7. I don't have a huge yarn stash. Surprising, I know, but true. You would think the complete opposite, but my yarn stash is pretty modest compared to most knitters I know. :)

And I'm going to be bad. Because I'm not really in the tagging mode, I'm not going to tag anyone today. But just wait...you may be tagged in the near future!

Off to watch CSI Miami (which is new tonight!) Woo hoo!

Happy Monday!

Heaven...I'm in Heaven

Chocolate_up_close_fingering_union_

Heaven, I'm in heaven.
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak.
And I seem to find the happiness I seek,
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek.

The winner of the Easter contest this week is Bertha! :) Congrats Bertha! I have emailed you separately about your loot...

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest this week...the answer was the ever popular egg. Yep, eggs are the most popular of all Easter greeting cards.

Hope you each have a wonderful Easter! :)

A little bit about Flat Feet....

Flat_feet_sample_5

Experience the newest concept in sock knitting! Here's just a little bit about Flat Feet...

Flat_feet_sample_7

Knit directly from the flat.

No balls...

Flat_feet_sample_8

no skeins...

Flat_feet_sample_6

no tangles!

Flat_feet_sample_9

Super soft 80% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon yarn has been commercially knit prior to hand-painting.

Flat_feet_sample

Each flat is 100 grams, which is more than enough for a pair of adult socks.

Flat_feet_sample_1

Any sock pattern works with Flat Feet; however, with each purchase of Flat Feet, you will receive 3 complimentary Flat Feet patterns.

Flat_feet_sample_3

Each hand-painted flat is unique, and no Flat Feet pairs can be exactly reproduced. That, of course, is what makes them art socks and perfectly unique!

Flat_feet_sample_4

Flat Feet. Get them this Sunday at Woolgirl.

Please note: All photos above were taken by Conjoined Creations and sample handpainted flats with the sock that was knit from it. No Flat Feet colorways can be exactly duplicated like the ones above. Some will be similar, but no two will be exactly alike.

Flat Feet are in the House + A Final Easter Contest

Flat_feet_2

Flat Feet are in the house, and let me tell you, we have some gorgeous colorways! Wowee! Remember, each colorway is completely different from the next, which makes these beauties even better in my eyes. The Flat Feet will be posted in the shop this Sunday, March 23rd.

And as promised, some hints of what else we will be adding...

Can anyone say Hazel Knits? Yipee! We received 3 overflowing boxes of Hazel Knits, with some new colorways (and some of the wonderful already established colorways).

Something new? Let's see....

Cami Chic

Alki Reflection

My personal favorite of the already established colorways?

Hands down it has to be Chuckanut Drive...

Chuckanut_drive

Shown here in the Madelinetosh Slippery Sock pattern. This colorway just somehow speaks to me, you know how colorways can do that? Well, this one does it for me.

On Friday there will be more little hints about what's to come for this Sunday's shop update...but let me just say...there's a mighty huge box that just arrived  from the UK starting with the letter P. Hmmmm....what could that be?

And as promised, our final Easter contest is today. And I'm hoping to stump you a little bit with this one (but you guys are good, so I don't know...)

Hallmark_cards

Hallmark Greeting Cards. We all buy them each year for every occasion it seems, right? And Easter is absolutely no exception...I think that I, personally, have purchased at least 10 Easter greeting cards this year. Yes, I'm a bit of a card freak.

So, this being said, do you know what the most popular symbol on Hallmark's Easter cards is? What would you guess? Eggs? Baby chicks? Rabbits? Flowers? One of these is the correct answer, but which one?

Guess correctly and you could win some Hazel Knits yarn, along with a set of cute spring greeting cards and chocolate (of course!). What could be a better Easter present? :)

Happy guessing, and Happy Wednesday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St_patties_daypatricksdaythumb1912

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you're wearing some green today, or else you might find yourself getting a little pinch here or there. :)

Some fun shop news today...

We finally hired our first employee, and she started today! :) Yep, there's now another person running around here filling orders, checking in yarn, and helping to organize everything on a day-to-day basis! I will still be answering all emails and packaging quite a few of the orders; however, you might see a little note here or there in your package from Joanne. Joanne is actually my SIL (so is also a Jett girl!) and is excited to now be a part of Woolgirl, and we are sooooo happy (and long overdue) to have her here! Welcome Joanne!

Secondly, we will have one more Easter contest this week, so be sure to check in with us this Wednesday for lots of Easter goodness and a fun trivia question.

And lastly, we will have a pretty big shop update this Easter Sunday, and I'll be posting little hints throughout the week of what will be included. Stay tuned!!!!

May the luck o' the Irish be with you today!

Flat_feet_23

Knit directly from the flat.

Flat_feet_3

No skeins and no need to wind into a ball.

Flat_feet_7

Extremely compact with no worry of tangling.

Flat_feet_6

Each skein is completely unique - no colorway will be the same as any other.

Flat Feet....coming soon to a Woolgirl near you. :)

The winner of the Easter contest this week is Meg! Congrats Meg, and I have sent you an email already this morning, so hopefully you've received that! The correct answer was 42 eggs! Yep, we got lots of little eggs on that tree! :) And thank you to everyone who shared their Easter traditions - how fun it was reading about what each of you do as part of your Easter. I love it!

Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!

Easter Traditions

Easter_egg_tree

Every year we get together a few weeks before Easter and make one of these little Easter egg trees. Do you remember these from back in the day? Well, they're still around! It's so much fun to put all kinds of little bunnies and eggs on the tree, and have it sitting out as a tabletop display until Easter. This particular photo was taken of our tree before we actually got most of the decorations on it. Now it's loaded with eggs and bunnies galore. Which brings me to the contest question this week! This is our last week of Easter contests (boo hoo!), but I'm sure I'll come up with something fun for our next set of contests, so no reason to be too sad. :)

There are 2 contest questions this week...you need to answer both of them to be entered into the drawing for the week.

Question 1: How many little Easter eggs do you think we finally added to our Easter tree?

A) 20
B) 28
C) 30
D) 42

Easter_egg_tree_2

Question 2:
What is an Easter tradition in your family each year?

The winner will be announced this Friday, and will win a $25 gift certificate to Woolgirl, along with some other fun Easter prizes.

and now for some SOME SHOP NEWS:

Calling all Test Knitters!
We are currently looking for a few test knitters who are willing and able to knit a sweater. Must have past experience knitting sweaters. If you are interested, please email me at jennifer@woolgirl.com and we can talk details!

There will not be a shop update this weekend. Instead, we will have a larger shop update next Sunday, March 23rd. Stay tuned next week for details!

And finally, we have a few spots still available for the Joe Cool Snoopy Sock Kits. If you are interested, please email me at jennifer@woolgirl.com.

How did this happen?

Whitney_birthday_photo

How did it happen that I am now the mother of an 18 year old? It seems that just yesterday I was trying to decide which crib to buy, taking her to soccer games, and scheduling slumber parties. Hmmmm....

Now she's 18, spending lots of time with friends (ie, the "boyfriend") and is often away from home, and we're thinking about college classes in the fall. When did she semi-grow up?

This picture was taken on Whitney's birthday Friday night - March 7th, 2008. We were at Whitney's favorite Mexican restaurant and she had just been serenaded to by the entire wait staff. Lots of smiles and laughs were had by all. As you can see, she has a touch of whipped cream on her lips from the fried ice cream (which was topped with more whipped cream than actual ice cream) and didn't get it off before they snapped the photo. But I thought, how cute is that? You can tell I'm her mother, can't you?

Happy 18th Birthday to the most special person in my life - for now and always. Happy Birthday Whitney!

Love, Mom
