Happy Halloween! 5th Socktoberfest Contest
Happy Halloween!
This is the last official day of Socktoberfest and with that we have our last Socktoberfest contest. It's been a fun month of contests, hasn't it? I have really enjoyed reading all of your comments each week, and have had fun with the themes! I may decide that we need to have another contest filled month throughout the month of December - with Christmas themed contests. You will each have to let me know what you think about that and if that would strike your fancy.
This week's theme is all about the scary movie - the classic horror film. We all love a good scare, don't we? There are so many so called "horror" films that have been made - The Exorcist, The Haunting, Poltergeist, Rosemary's Baby, Psycho, The Shining, IT (do you remember the freaky clown in IT? - that gave me nightmares for years)...the list goes on and on. Of course, there have been quite a few newer horror movies introduced in recent years - like Scream, Scary Movie, Halloween...and unfortunately this list goes on and on also. Personally, I'm a huge fan of some of the classics, or at least some of the movies that were made several years ago. There's just an element of scary in those older films that today's film doesn't seem to carry with it.
So this brings us to the contest question this week! I have chosen a movie which I think encompasses the words "scary" and "horror" and "nightmare" all into one. It's a movie I grew up watching, and in fact was directed by one of the most famous movie directors of all time. This movie has some of the scariest sound effects of all time too! Can you guess what it is? Well, of course I'll give one tiny clue....
A famous line from the film:
"They're coming! They're Coming!"
Now can you guess what is is?
If you guess correctly, you will win some fun items from our shop, including some wonderful yarn from a dyer we have not yet posted in the shop (that's the only clue you're getting!), stitch markers, and a couple of other little fun things that I've found to go along with the theme of this movie.
Best of luck! The winner will be announced this Friday!
Also this Friday we will be providing more details on the upcoming shop update we will be having this weekend, as well as a list of what's included in the November Sale!
Happy Halloween and Happy Wednesday!

Hitchcock's "The Birds" has Tippi Hedren as Melanie Daniels, saying the line "They're coming, they're coming."
It bare's mentioning that it also evokes the line from "Night of the Living Dead"....They're coming to get you, Barbara!
Happy Halloween!!!!!!

--The Birds--Oh my, I do think this is one of the scariest classics (maybe because so Possible??) and has to be one of the reasons i have never been interested in seeing newer ones, from Exorcist to 6th Sense...

I'm going to follow suit and go with The Birds as well. I'm not a huge scary movie fan, but that's one I did manage to sit through!

The Birds. And as much as I'm excited about November being all about Ireland and contest (perfect for me!), I love Christmas, so December Christmas contests (or holiday celebrating in general) sounds good to me!!

I really have no clue, but "The Birds" ... I saw that before we went to the gulf of mexico for the first time when i was a kid. There were seagulls everywhere. Talk about traumatizing.

That is very much The Birds by Hitchcock. Although all of his movies have terrified me to no end. I even live in an area where the birds congregate and rest on the powerlines at dawn and dusk. I don't mean a few birds I mean 500-700. There are certain corners I will not drive or walk by at those times just to avoid the sky filled with birds. A few I enjoy watching-100's creep me out!!!!!

I think it is "The Birds" also. I agree, the older, classic movies have more suspense and less gore than some of the newer scary movies!

O.K. I concur --The Birds from Alfred Hitchcock!
I love this movie. I think the scariest for me was when the birds were making there way through the roof of the house and they were getting closer and closer to invading the house to kill the family! Mitch and Melanie and his mom and little girl!

Happy Halloween! The Birds. It's such a good movie. Although now it isn't quite scary since the special effects look really cheesy, but gosh way back when it was amazing.
